This coming Sunday 12 October 2025, Gauteng's breakfast run takes us to Muldersdrift, West Rand. Here we are visiting a secluded gem of an establishment known as Casalinga - an Italian word describing homemade or home-style quality food, derived from the word casa, meaning "home".

Casalinga was established in 1988 and is still owned and operated by world-renowned golfer Gary Player's daughter, Jenny, and her husband Peter De Luca. This explains the beautiful rolling lawn outside the restaurant as it was used by Gary as a driving range.

Orders are taken for the breakfast menu up to 10h30, with a service break thereafter to enable the kitchen to prepare for the lunch, which opens at 11h30.

As a dessert treat, do try out a waffle from “The Honeybee Pancake & Waffle Co.”, located a few meters from the main restaurant, average price about R60.

We’ll be seated under the shade of the garden foliage, with a bad weather alternative in the main restaurant. Special arrangement has been made for bikes to park on the grass area next to this outdoor seating.

All cells will collect at the R512 Shell Lanseria garage, located after Maggie's Farm/ Home of the Chicken Pie, heading from the N14 highway in the direction of Hartbeespoort. GPS coordinates are: 25°53'56.9"S 27°53'20.9"E
Group departure time is 08h30 and we should arrive at the venue about 09h30. The run is just short of 75km, with most of the ride along the scenic backroads, including the R400 Satellite stretch . Venue GPS coordinates are: 26°02'40.7"S 27°52'20.3"E
